Mango in Hawaii

The first mango plants came to Hawaii in 1824 from India and the Philippines. Mango trees are popular across the state and can grow over 100 feet tall. Mango fruit is a local favorite and there are over 60 varieties found in Hawaii. When ripe, mango fruits are covered with red or yellow, soft and thin skin that covers their soft, juicy, and sweet flesh. The fruit season is between May and October.
